The fact of the matter is we set up our servers because we had a very hard time getting things done for our clients when dealing with most of hosting companies out there. The typical hosting company business model is "cram as many sites on the servers as possible!" Period. You can forget about doing anything remotely fancy. Trying to get a simple cgi script to work would usually take 10 times longer than it should - if we could get it to work at all. And getting reliable and helpful tech support was a crap shoot at best.

So it became clear we had to set up our own servers in order to get things done in a timely manner, and to be able to offer maximum flexibility to our clients in terms of what their sites can do as their needs grow.
